99 Red Balloons…
Would cost you $9,900 with the new proposed cost of helium. The question has been asked, have we reached peak helium? “Helium is a non-renewable material here on earth. About 80% of global reserves are in the American Southwest, created as a by-product of refining natural gas. Dr. Richardson recommends raising prices drastically, so a helium balloon would run around $100, to reflect the value of the gas inside.” Hence the expensive red balloons.

Or crunchy chip bag, whichever is louder, usually gets the attention. SunChips Eco Innovation is getting some negative attention in the the news lately. Sure the bag is loud, [it has a recorded a 95 decibel level], but it gets your attention, and that’s what we need to get a conversation started. We applaud SunChips for their incredibly loud bag. A Glimpse at a Plausible Solution
BRANDIMAGE has created the 360 Paper Bottles which are bottles made of 100% renewable paper. This idea has granted them an IDEA (International Design Excellence Award).
CHALLENGE
Each day, Americans throw out 60 million plastic bottles. Only 14% actually get recycled—meaning 86% become garbage or litter. We looked at this as a radical problem requiring an
equally radical solution. Could we design a container that would leverage sustainability, be
easy to transport, and enhance the consumer’s drinking experience?SOLUTION
The 360 Paper Bottle is a sustainable vision of the future. It is the first totally recyclable
paper container made from 100% renewable resources. Versatile in its range of consumer
applications and made from food-safe and fully recyclable materials, it decreases energy
consumed throughout the product life cycle without sacrificing functionality. It is paper
packaging that stands up to all liquid categories.
Now that there is a functional solution, who will be the first?

August 17, 2010Clean for All?
Seventh Generation and Walmart are forming a strategic partnership that will see the non-toxic cleaning product company sell its products at 1,500 Walmart stores and on Walmart.com. Positive, the masses have access to non-toxic cleaning supplies. Negative: Seventh Generation could theoretically back out of the partnership. Hollender warned on his blog, “Certainly any retreat on [Walmart's] social or environmental progress would trigger some rethinking. Our positions on responsibility, accountability, and transparency aren’t subject to change, and we expect our partners to keep working toward these goals.”
