Energy Flows

Solar / Wind Energy Update: A major wind power installation, the Alta Wind Energy Center, recently broke ground in the Tehachapi Pass of the the Mojave Desert foothills. Although the project is scheduled to take years to complete, it has the potential to bring as much as 3,000 megawatts of power to an area just 75 miles from Los Angeles.

Time to Watch the Grass Grow

This lovely little clock is beautiful in design and function. The Timeless Garden has no batteries or plugs to run it. It’s just the patch of grass reacting with the soil and producing a small electrical charge to the LCD screen that displays the time. We think this just proves how mother nature gives us clues for making a little less of a negative impact on earth.

99 Red Balloons…

Would cost you $9,900 with the new proposed cost of helium. The question has been asked, have we reached peak helium? “Helium is a non-renewable material here on earth. About 80% of global reserves are in the American Southwest, created as a by-product of refining natural gas. Dr. Richardson recommends raising prices drastically, so a helium balloon would run around $100, to reflect the value of the gas inside.” Hence the expensive red balloons.
